4. If the moon is not sighted, the Muslim community will fast for one more day and Eid will be celebrated on Saturday.

6. The first of the two Eid events will be at Edgbaston Stadium and the second event is at Small Heath Park.
7. Around 2,000 people attended a similar event last year.
8. The second event is expected to have around 20,000 worshippers.
9. If the ground at the park is too wet from recent rain or if heavy downpours are expected on the day, then prayers will be moved indoors to Green Lane Masjid.

Mohammed Saeed, chair of trustees at Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre, said: "Eid ul Fitr is one of the two major annual celebrations for the Muslim community, where we come together to celebrate the end of Ramadan, after a whole month of fasting. Eid is a time for the community to worship together, be thankful and spend time with family."


     Green Lane Mosque has announced the events with thousands of people expected to attend at the two festival sites. The two-day festival will be held at the mosque's main site in Birmingham on Saturday, September 22nd, and Sunday, September 23rd. The main event on Saturday will be a talk by Dr. Tariq Ramadan, the grandson of the founder of the mosque, and the event on Sunday will include a concert by the Birmingham-based band, Dawan.

     The mosque has also announced that it will be opening its doors to the public on both days from 10am to 4pm both days. The mosque has said that the event is a "a celebration of diversity and inclusiveness" and that it is "aimed at bringing people together from all walks of life, faiths and backgrounds."

     The mosque has said that it has received a "record number of applications" for tickets to the event and that it is expecting "thousands of people" to attend on both days.
