Key Highlights :

1. Bud Light's parent company, Anheuser-Busch, said it doesn't want to divide people in a statement following controversy over its Dylan Mulvaney partnership.
2. An influencer, Dylan Mulvaney, received backlash for posting a Bud Light promotional video on Instagram.
3. Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth broke his silence on Friday after a brand deal between Bud Light and TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney prompted an anti-trans backlash.
4. Bud Light's partnership with Mulvaney wasn't the first time she received anti-trans hate for a brand deal.

Earlier this month, influencer Dylan Mulvaney received anti-trans backlash for posting a Bud Light promotional video on Instagram. In the video, Mulvaney is seen sporting a "Bud Light Lime" shirt and giving a thumbs-up while holding a can of the beer. The caption for the video reads "If you're not drinking Bud Light, you're not living."

Many people took issue with the video, with some accusing Mulvaney of promoting transphobia and discrimination. One critic wrote on Twitter that the video was "disgusting and ignorant."

Mulvaney defended the video in a subsequent Instagram post, writing that he "doesn't care what people think of [him] because [he's] content."

Mulvaney's anti-trans video comes amid a growing trend of anti-trans rhetoric and discrimination in the United States. Earlier this month, a transgender woman was attacked and killed in Mississippi. And in March, a transgender woman was shot and killed in Kansas City.

Mulvaney's video is just one example of the ways that trans people are targeted and discriminated against in America. It's important that we stand up against transphobia and discrimination, and make sure that everyone has the opportunity to live their life in the way that they feel is best.
