Café Camtown, a popular café in Cambridge, has been given the green light to change a takeaway into a coffee shop on Akeman Street. The café, formerly based on Buchan Street, Arbury, was forced to close and relocate due to plans for a new community centre to be built in its place. Cambridge City Council granted permission for the café to re-open in new premises on 74 Akeman Street, citing the lack of coffee shops in the area and the presence of a new one as “a benefit” to local people.

Suleyman Boyraz, joint owner of Café Camtown, has already started work on the interior design of the café, which he hopes will be opening soon. Customers who cannot wait until the grand opening of the Akeman Street branch can find their sister café, Bread and Butter, open on Milton Road. The redevelopment of the block on Akeman Street is part of Cambridge Investment Partnership’s Meadows and Buchan Street developments and should be completed in the next two years.

The new café will be a welcome addition to the area and is a great example of how the local council is working to ensure the vitality and diversity of Cambridge. Not only will the new café provide an opportunity for local people to enjoy a nice cup of coffee, but it will also provide jobs and contribute to the local economy. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Café Camtown is a popular café in Cambridge and its new location on Akeman Street is sure to be a hit with locals. With the café’s new opening hours of 7.30am to 5.30pm, it’s the perfect place to grab a coffee before work or a bite to eat during lunchtime. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee or a leisurely lunch, Café Camtown is the perfect spot.
