Chelsea are not a "broken" team this season and co-owner Todd Boehly had every right to address the squad he has invested in, manager Frank Lampard said ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid tomorrow.
"Chelsea are not a broken team," Lampard told reporters at the team's training ground on Friday. "We have a lot of good players and we have a lot of good young players.
"We have been through a lot of tough times and we have come out the other side, so I don't think that we are a broken team. We have a lot of good players and we are looking forward to tomorrow's game."
Chelsea have been criticised this season for their inconsistency, but Lampard is confident that they can beat Real Madrid.
"We are looking forward to the game," he said. "We know that it is a difficult game but we are confident that we can win it.
"We have had a few bad results but we have a lot of good players and we are looking forward to putting it all together and getting a good result."
Chelsea are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season, but Lampard is not getting ahead of himself.
"We are one of the favourites but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves," he said. "We want to go into the game as favourites but we know that it is going to be a tough game.
"We have to be at our best to win it."
