Colby Covington's history of racism and disrespect towards other fighters doesn't sit well with his brother.
Key Highlights :
Fabian Edwards, a top Bellator middleweight, is not fond of the idea of his brother facing Covington despite the UFC's insistence that they will fight next.
"I don't think it's a good idea," Fabian Edwards told MMA Fighting. "I think it would be a bad matchup for my brother. I don't think he would fare well against [Covington]."
Fabian Edwards, 27, has been with Bellator since the promotion's inception in 2009 and is currently the promotion's #1 middleweight. He is a four-time world champion and holds notable victories over the likes of Douglas Lima and Michael Chandler.
Covington, on the other hand, is a relative unknown. The 25-year-old is a former NCAA Division I wrestler who has only fought four times in the UFC, all of which have been knockout victories. His most recent fight was a unanimous decision victory over Rafael Natal in February.
Despite their differences, the Edwards brothers are still close. Fabian Edwards said he would support his brother no matter what decision he makes about the Covington fight.
"I'm going to support him no matter what," Fabian Edwards said. "I think it would be a tough matchup for him, but I'll support him no matter what."
The UFC has insisted that the Covington vs. Edwards fight will take place next, but Fabian Edwards doesn't seem to be convinced.
