Hyundai Motor said Thursday its all-electric IONIQ 6 sedan has been named 2023 World Car of the Year at the New York International Auto Show.
The IONIQ 6 is the first all-electric car from Hyundai and is designed to appeal to a broad range of buyers, the company said.
"The IONIQ 6 is the perfect car for a modern, sustainable world," said Chung Eui-yong, Hyundai Motor's chairman and CEO. "With its cutting-edge design, innovative technology and fuel-efficient performance, the IONIQ 6 is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a highly efficient and stylish car."
The IONIQ 6 is powered by a lithium-ion battery that offers an estimated driving range of more than 500 kilometers (310 miles), Hyundai said.
The car's design features a sleek, aerodynamic body with a low center of gravity that makes it agile and comfortable to drive, the company said.
The IONIQ 6 is available in three trim levels: S, SE and SEL. The S model starts at $32,000 and the SE model starts at $37,000. The SEL model starts at $41,000.
The IONIQ 6 is the latest addition to Hyundai's lineup of fuel-efficient vehicles. The company's current lineup includes the all-electric Ioniq, the plug-in hybrid Ioniq Hybrid and the diesel-powered Ioniq.
