Mumbai: The song ‘Veera Raja Veera’ — the second to be released from the Mani Ratnam spectacle ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 2’ — was shared by the film’s makers Saturday. Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer A.R. Rahman has composed the track, picturised on Karthi, Trisha and Shobita Dhulipala against the backdrop of warships sailing across the high seas.
The song, set to a mesmerising tune, is all about the power of love and patriotism.
“The song is about a love story between a Veera Raja and Veera Raja Veera. It’s a very patriotic song and we wanted to make it a memorable experience for the viewers,” said director Mani Ratnam.
The song, which has been shot in various locations in Mumbai, is slated to be released in cinemas on January 25.
“Ponniyin Selvan: 2” is a spectacle that tells the story of a young man (Karthi) who is torn between his love for his country and his love for a woman (Trisha). The film also stars Shobita Dhulipala and is produced by Ratnam’s company Ratnaveli.
