On Friday afternoon, a newborn baby girl was found outside a home in Blacktown, Sydney. The infant, believed to be only days old, was found by a family who had moved to the area only one week prior. The baby was rushed to Blacktown Hospital, but police are still trying to find the woman who gave birth to her.
Detective Chief Inspector Jason Pietruszka from the police department has expressed his concern for the baby's mother, both mentally and physically, and urged anyone with information to come forward. He believes that forensic material and CCTV may provide some leads, but he's hoping that the public can help as well.
The baby is believed to have been left at the home between 12:30pm and 2:40pm on Friday. Inspector Pietruszka said, "This person has obviously gone through something quite traumatic and to put your own child in this situation, obviously you do need some help." He is urging the woman to attend a hospital, call an ambulance, or attend a police station as soon as possible.
Once the baby is discharged from the hospital, she will enter state care. Anyone with information about the baby's mother is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Inspector Pietruszka and the police department are hoping that the public can help them find the answers they need and bring the baby's mother to safety.
