3. A few days back, while announcing the schedule for the Karnataka Assembly elections, CEC Rajiv Kumar said that there is a vacuum in Jammu and Kashmir that needs to be filled. He also said that the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls will not affect the election schedule.
4. Unless extended, the final electoral rolls of Jammu and Kashmir will be published on May 10.
5. In light of the summer tourist season and the annual Amarnath Yatra that begins in June and will end in August, there is no likelihood of the Assembly elections being held here before autumn.

The ECI has also said that it is possible to hold the polls together with the Lok Sabha elections in April-May 2024. However, the decision on when to hold the polls will be taken by the government.
