     The month of April 2023 is set to be a busy one for Indian banks, with a total of 15 bank holidays across various states. According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) list of holidays, the bank holiday for Eid will be observed on the fourth Saturday of the month, resulting in several states' public and private lenders being closed on April 22.

     The bank holidays in April 2023 will include weekends, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks in Tripura, Kerala, Jammu and Srinagar will remain closed on April 21 while banks in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Goa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Srinagar will remain closed on April 22 due to the bank holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

     The RBI holiday list categorizes bank holidays into three categories: Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. The bank holiday for Ramzan Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr) falls under the first category.
