Helen Morley, a 62-year-old breast cancer survivor, is set to be strapped to a plane and fly at around 80mph after being given the all clear. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Helen was treated at various NHS hospitals across Sussex with the help of the Sussex Cancer Fund, which provides comfort and support to those going through treatment. Now, after being told that her cancer scans were clear, Helen is set to complete a “wing walk” to celebrate and help give back to the people who supported her.

The Sussex Cancer Fund helped to provide Helen with a comfortable room where she was able to have chemotherapy, as well as providing massages and other forms of support to help her and other cancer patients. To celebrate her recovery, Helen and her niece Alex, 25, will take to the skies next month on a rig on top of a plane.

Helen is raising funds for the cancer fund as well as the Horizon Centre in Brighton where she had treatment. The centre is a calm and friendly place where Helen was supported throughout the course of her treatments with help and information, complementary therapies and counselling as well as being able to use the relaxing light and sound room or sit in their garden overlooking the sea.

Sussex Cancer Fund recently provided over £1 million worth of refurbishments to the Sussex Cancer Centre in Brighton's Royal Sussex County Hospital. So far Helen has raised over £2,000 through her JustGiving page and is aiming to raise a further £1,000 before the wing walk. Helen and Alex will be taking to the skies on Monday, May 22, at the Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent.

Helen’s story is an inspiring one and she is a true testament to the power of the human spirit. Her brave decision to take on a wing walk is a testament to her courage and determination to help those who supported her throughout her treatment. We wish her all the best for her upcoming flight and hope she continues to inspire and help others who are going through similar experiences.
