Celebrating 100 Years of Fun and Friendship: The 12th Portsmouth (Cathedral) Brownies Rededicate a Tree
Key Highlights :
On Monday, May 15, 2023, the 12th Portsmouth (Cathedral) Brownies celebrated their centenary with a special ceremony and rededication of a tree in the grounds of the cathedral. The tree, which was planted by the then Brownies when the group turned 50, was rededicated by the current Brownies.
The 12th Portsmouth (Cathedral) Brownies are part of Girlguiding, a group for girls aged 7-10. The Brownies, as they are affectionately known, are committed to providing a fun and safe environment for girls to learn and grow. The celebration of the centenary was a special time for the Brownies, as they were able to spend time with some former Brownies – some of whom were there when the tree was originally planted – to find out more about their time in the group.
The rededication ceremony was a joyous occasion, with Brownie leader Ruth Charles leading the girls in taking their Brownies Promise. The girls also enjoyed a special picnic and cake to mark the occasion.
The celebration of the 12th Portsmouth (Cathedral) Brownies' centenary is a testament to the longevity of the group and the impact it has had on the lives of its members. The rededication of the tree serves as a reminder of the fun and friendship that has been shared over the years, and a symbol of the group's commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for young girls.
