Key Highlights :
1. Megan Amato tries out One Square’s new Champagne brunch.
2. There are winning combinations that stand the test of time, bucking social media trends to be firm staples in the public’s hearts.
3. The Sheraton’s One Square has launched a new Champagne Brunch at the Brasserie by Piper Heidseick.
4. Despite the rare warm and sunny Edinburgh day, the interior of Sheraton was cool – both in temperature and design.
5. As you can expect from any Sheraton, the dining area of the One Square manages to keep their chic and elegant space comfortable with soft floral touches and large leafy plants.
6. We were settled into a window table with clear views of One Square itself with the grand-looking Usher Hall in the backdrop.
7. On a dreich day, the building likely blends in with its surroundings, but that afternoon, the sun appeared to halo it.
8. After our friendly waitress explained the menu to us and confirmed our choice of a glass (£25) or bottle (£45) of Piper-Heidseick Cuvee Brut Champagne – we chose the glass as we still had things to do that day – a selection of pastries, yoghurt and fruit were brought out to our delight.
9. This Canadian immediately and unabashedly went for the small pancakes and light maple syrup, but the diverse range of tropical fruits and berries made a nice accompaniment.
10. The pastries were just as they ought to be, crispy on the outside and soft inside, proving that the baker added the right amount of butter.
11. My guest was especially enamoured by the yoghurt pots which were far better than her usual yoghurt and granola.
12. There were seven a la carte options to follow the welcome platter and something to suit nearly every dietary requirement.
13. I was tempted by the French toast with Bramley apple compote but as we had just had a tray of sweet treats, I knew I would regret it if I didn’t order something savoury.
14. Though some would criticise me for not being able to buy a house later, I settled on the sliced avocado toast with sundried tomatoes and poached eggs.
15. The eggs were poached perfectly and the sundried tomatoes and chili & lime dressing added the perfect acidic note to the usually rich and salty dish.
16. Despite being satisfied by choice, I did have food envy as I eyed my friend’s Tunisian-spiced chickpea bowl with crumbled feta, sun-blush tomatoes, poached eggs, smashed avocado and olive oil croutons.
17. Her only complaint was she wished there was more if it,
18. We finished our brunching experience with a coffee and left satisfied.
Located at the north end of Lothian Road, One Square at the Sheraton has launched a new Champagne Brunch at the Brasserie by Piper Heidseick. Megan Amato recently tried out the new brunch experience and gives us a rundown of her experience.
Megan and her guest were warmly welcomed by their friendly waitress and were settled into a window table with clear views of One Square itself with the grand-looking Usher Hall in the backdrop. To start off the brunch, a selection of pastries, yoghurt and fruit were brought out to the delight of both guests. The pastries were just as they ought to be, crispy on the outside and soft inside, proving that the baker added the right amount of butter. The yoghurt pots were also a hit with Megan’s guest.
For the main course, Megan was tempted by the French toast with Bramley apple compote but decided to go for something savoury instead. She chose the sliced avocado toast with sundried tomatoes and poached eggs which was a winning combination. Her guest went for the Tunisian-spiced chickpea bowl with crumbled feta, sun-blush tomatoes, poached eggs, smashed avocado and olive oil croutons. Both dishes were delicious and the guests left satisfied.
The brunch experience also included a glass or bottle of Piper-Heidseick Cuvee Brut Champagne. Megan and her guest opted for the glass which was priced at £25. The brunch with a 1/2 bottle of Piper-Heidseick Cuvee Brut Champagne is priced at £45.
One Square’s Champagne Brunch is a great way to enjoy a chic afternoon dining experience with a small yet delightful menu. The brunch is available to book every Saturday from 20 May 2023 and can be booked online at www.onesquareedinburgh.co.uk/restaurant.
