The Last Adventure of Indiana Jones: Harrison Ford Confirms Dial of Destiny is the Final Film
Key Highlights :
Harrison Ford, the iconic actor behind the beloved character of Indiana Jones, has confirmed that the upcoming film Dial of Destiny will be the last time the celebrated archaeologist appears in a film. In an interview with Total Film, the 80-year-old star shared that this will be Indy’s last big screen outing, as he said: “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.”
Ford has been wanting to make this movie for 10 years and it was a joyous moment for him when it was finally greenlit. He is grateful to have been able to deliver amazing films developed by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas over a 40-year period, and to end it not with a whimper, but a bang, has been his greatest ambition for this excursion.
It was previously suggested that Disney Plus was developing a TV series around the character, but Ford added that he wouldn’t be involved in that, “if it does come to fruition.”
The Indiana Jones franchise began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark and has since made more than $1bn at the box office. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be released in cinemas on June 30, with its world premiere to take place at the Cannes Film Festival a month earlier.
For decades, fans have been captivated by the adventures of Indiana Jones and his daring escapades. It is with a heavy heart that we must bid farewell to the beloved character, as we know that this is the last time we will see him on the big screen. But we can take comfort in the fact that Harrison Ford has gone out with a bang, and we will always have the fond memories of the franchise to look back on.
