DIDI HAMANN: Inter Milan will need a 'Miracle' to snatch the Champions League from Man City

Current World Trends

Key Highlights :

1. Liverpool went to Istanbul 2005 knowing they had to win to beat AC Milan. Inter Milan will not need a 'miracle' like Liverpool did.
2. Manchester City have been the best team in Europe this season and deserve to win the Champions League.
3. Erling Haaland is a huge part of what makes City so strong and he will be a key player in the final.

Manchester City are on the brink of making history as they prepare to take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final next weekend. With the Citizens having already secured the Premier League and FA Cup titles this season, they are now just one victory away from claiming a historic treble.

However, unlike Liverpool's 'Miracle of Istanbul' in 2005, City won't need a miracle to bring home the trophy, according to former Liverpool and City midfielder Dietmar Hamann.

Having watched City's impressive performances over the course of the season, Hamann believes the Citizens are the deserved favourites for the final and, over two legs, they are practically unbeatable.

The presence of Erling Haaland in the City side has also given the players incredible belief, according to Hamann, as he can score out of nothing, while the defensive partnership between Ruben Dias and John Stones has been as important as Virgil van Dijk is to Liverpool.

Hamann, who spent three years at City between 2006 and 2009, also praised the club for keeping a lot of the staff from his time, including physio Paul Webster, communications manager Vicky Kloss, operations manager Danny Wilson and first-team support manager Clare Marsden.

The former German international also spoke of his pride at being part of Liverpool's 'Miracle of Istanbul' in 2005, when the Reds came from 3-0 down at half-time to beat AC Milan on penalties.

While Inter Milan have some good players, Hamann believes the Italians will need a miracle to win the final, as they don't have anyone who can match the influence of Steven Gerrard.

With City having already secured the Premier League and FA Cup titles this season, Hamann believes the Citizens deserve to lift the Champions League trophy and make history with a historic treble.
