'EastEnders Star Lin Blakley to Play Georgia Sharma in ITV Emmerdale

EastEnders actress Lin Blakley is set to take over the role of Georgia Sharma in ITV's Emmerdale, taking over from previous actress Trudie Goodwin. Georgia is the mother of Jai Sharma, and will be making her first appearance in the village since leaving in 2015.
The upcoming scene will be a dramatic one, as Jai discovers that Rishi Sharma is not his biological father. This revelation will no doubt cause a stir in the village, with speculation that Georgia may have been raped and is now returning with a secret.
Speaking about her new role, Lin said: “How lucky am I to play such a strong character as Georgia. So different from roles I’ve played of late. I have enjoyed every single minute. Gorgeous cast and crew!! And the gorgeous Dales. Thank you Emmerdale.”
Emmerdale producer Kate Brook also commented on the new casting, saying: “We're thrilled to have an actor of Lin's calibre step into the role of the formidable Georgia. A force to be reckoned with, she'll have a secret for the Sharmas that could potentially blow their world apart.”
Fans of the soap have already taken to Twitter to try and work out the show’s upcoming twist, with many speculating that Georgia may have been the victim of a crime.
Lin Blakley joins a long list of actors who have made the move from EastEnders to Emmerdale, including Shane Richie, Dean Gaffney and Samantha Womack.
The new casting is sure to be a hit with viewers, and it will be interesting to see how the twist plays out when Georgia returns to the village.
