Get Support for Universal Credit Claims with £22 Million Investment from the DWP
Key Highlights :

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that they are investing £22 million into free and impartial support for those making a new claim for Universal Credit. This is part of the DWP's 'Help to Claim' scheme, which has already provided support to more than 250,000 people across the UK since it was launched in 2019.
The additional funding will ensure that support is available to help people make and manage their Universal Credit claims until they receive their first payment. This is particularly important as the cost of living continues to put household finances under pressure.
Guy Opperman MP, Minister for Employment, said: "Help to Claim continues to assist thousands of people every year with over 800,000 people already receiving support since its introduction. This additional investment will allow Citizens Advice to continue to provide this vital support following its extension for a further year."
The independent support is available online or by calling Citizens Advice on: England: 0800 144 8444, Scotland: 0800 023 2581, Wales: 08000 241 220.
Dame Clare Moriarty, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, said: "We’ve seen first-hand the difference our advisers make in helping people access Universal Credit. We’ll continue to use our frontline insights and unique data to suggest enhancements to the benefits system, further helping the people we support."
The DWP's investment into providing free and impartial support for Universal Credit claims is a welcome move, and could make a huge difference to those who are struggling to make ends meet. It is also important to note that the support is independent, meaning that claimants can be sure that they are getting the best advice and support available.
