Manchester United Weigh Up Move for Moises Caicedo as Mason Mount Chase Continues

Key Highlights :

1. Manchester United are looking at another midfielder, and are considering signing Brighton's Moises Caicedo.
2. Caicedo is still only 21 years old, and Brighton may demand a high fee for him this summer.

Manchester United are continuing their chase for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, but with the Blues demanding a fee of £70million or more, the Red Devils are beginning to look elsewhere. Reports suggest that United could turn to Brighton star Moises Caicedo as they look to fill their midfield void, and the club is expected to make a formal approach sooner rather than later.

Caicedo, who is only 21 years of age, has attracted plenty of attention over recent times, and in January saw him submit a transfer request after Arsenal expressed their interest. Brighton stood firm on that occasion, and Caicedo knuckled down to help the Seagulls to land a Europa League spot. However, with the club already having sold Alexis Mac Allister, Brighton are likely to demand a very big fee for Caicedo, with some reports suggesting it could cost as much as £80million or more this summer.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth commented on the situation, saying: “Manchester United have always had an interest in Moises Caicedo, but cynics will look at this in a different way and see them initially going for a Chelsea player, and because they can’t get the deal that they want, the noises that are emanating about other targets involve someone that Chelsea are also after. That could be, maybe, to try to accelerate a Mason Mount deal on their terms. Or, we take it on face value, Mount will be out of the equation, and they’ll go for Moises Caicedo.”

It remains to be seen if Manchester United will be successful in their pursuit of Caicedo, but it is clear that the Red Devils are looking for an alternative to Mount as their chase for the Chelsea star continues. With the transfer window open until the end of October, United have plenty of time to decide on their next move.
