Robbie Fowler Urges Declan Rice to Choose Manchester City for His Career
Key Highlights :
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has shared his opinion on the future of West Ham captain Declan Rice, urging him to choose Manchester City for the good of his career. Rice, 24, has been linked with a move to City or Arsenal this summer, with the treble-winners reportedly ready to outbid their rivals for the England international's signature.
Fowler, who played for both City and the Hammers, believes that Rice must choose the Etihad outfit if he wants to win trophies, citing the success of Jack Grealish since his move from Aston Villa two years ago. The former striker also believes that the midfielder's decision should not be based on money, but rather what is best for his career.
Rice has made 204 appearances for the Hammers since breaking into the first team in 2016/17, and captained the club to their first major trophy since 1980 this month when they won the Europa Conference League.
Fowler has urged Rice to take the opportunity to join City and be part of a team that is "serial winners", with the Champions League, two Premier League titles and the FA Cup in the last two years alone. He believes that Rice will be able to fly from Manchester to London in the same time it would take him to drive from Rush Green to London Colney, and could still retire as a wealthy man regardless of his decision.
Ultimately, Fowler believes that Rice must choose Manchester City if he wants to realise his full potential and win trophies, despite the Gunners being a "work in progress". He believes that the midfielder will be able to fly between Manchester and London in the same time it would take him to drive from Rush Green to London Colney, and could still retire as a wealthy man regardless of his choice.
