Sir Grayson Perry: Artist Receives Knighthood for Services to the Arts

8. He explained on Lorraine that he had briefly debated whether to accept the honour, saying: ‘I turn down things all the time. It’s the nature of success,’ says Perry.
9. But daughter Flo encouraged him. Perry’s wife Philippa said: ‘We asked our daughter and she said: “Don’t be a d**k.”’

Former Real Madrid and Tottenham footballer Gareth Bale will also be receiving an MBE, alongside fellow footballers Andrew Robertson and Jennifer Beattie for their services to the sport, as well as Robertson's work with charity and young people.

     Perry's knighthood is a testament to his incredible career, which has seen him become one of the most celebrated British artists of his generation. His work has been exhibited at the Tate Britain and the V&A, and he has won numerous awards, including the Turner Prize in 2003.

     The artist has also written several books, including 'The Descent of Man', which explores masculinity in the 21st century, and 'Playing to the Gallery', which looks at the art world and the business of art. Perry is a vocal advocate of the arts, and has campaigned for greater recognition of the value of the creative industries.
