Fabinho Absent From Liverpool's Pre-Season Tour Amid Saudi Arabia Rumours
Key Highlights :
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his 32-man travelling squad for the Reds' pre-season tour in Germany, but there is one notable absentee – Fabinho. The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad in recent days, and it appears that the rumours are true as he has been left out of the travelling squad.
The Reds are due to spend 10 days in the region, with friendlies scheduled against Karlsruher SC on Wednesday and then Greuther Furth the following Monday. However, Fabinho, 29, has been excluded from the squad, which could be a sign that he is set to move on from Anfield.
Al-Ittihad have already lodged a £40million bid for the former Monaco star, and Liverpool are believed to be considering accepting the offer. Fabinho has three years left on his contract at Anfield but could be sacrificed to make way for more incomings this summer.
The Brazilian also suffered a serious dip in form last season, and Klopp has been busy recruiting new midfielders to his already-talented squad. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai arrived from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively, and both players have unsurprisingly been included in Liverpool's pre-season squad.
Klopp's men will jet out to Germany on Saturday, and the manager will be hoping that his side can hit the ground running in their pre-season fixtures. Liverpool have already secured the signings of Ibrahima Konate and Diogo Jota, and the Reds will be looking to add further quality to their squad before the start of the 2023/24 season.
Fabinho's absence from the travelling squad is a clear indication that he is set to leave Anfield, but the Reds are yet to confirm the transfer. Liverpool fans will be hoping that the club can secure a suitable replacement for the Brazilian, as they look to mount a serious title challenge next season.
