Honey & Co. Daily: Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich to Open New Deli, Bakery and Cafe
Key Highlights :
Honey & Co. Daily, the new deli, bakery and cafe from founders Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich, will be opening in September. Located on the corner of Alfred Place Gardens and Store Street, the light-filled space will be divided into two sections. The first will be a deli-cum-takeaway, serving coffees, pastries, and lunches to go, while the second will be a casual, 40-cover dining room with a “more substantial” all-day menu.
The menu will focus on Middle Eastern cooking, with dishes such as lachma—or lahmacun—the meat-topped flatbread found across the Middle East, and shakshuka, where eggs are poached in olive oil, tomatoes, garlic and spices. Srulovich said, “From the start, our baking has been our beating heart, the backbone and basenote of everything we do - from the morning through to the afternoon and the last sweet bite after dinner, everything happens in, near or around our pastry section.”
Packer has paid tribute to his wife’s baking prowess, which has helped carve out Honey & Co.’s reputation. He said, “Our day is shaped by our baking, and we want to bring that routine to our guests. Our whole operation is powered by my wife Sarit, not least our pastry section — a fairy of sugar, fruit and flour, she conjures up incredible baked goods seemingly without moving, certainly without measuring too much, performing something not far from pure magic. This place is truly the space she deserves, a brand new kitchen dedicated to her art, plus a dining space that is so beautiful, I wish we could move in… it will make you weep.”
In addition to the deli, bakery and cafe, Packer and Srulovich will also be hosting supper clubs and events at the space on Friday and Saturday nights. With an emphasis on Middle Eastern cooking, and Packer’s and Srulovich’s commitment to creating a space that celebrates their wife’s baking, Honey & Co. Daily is sure to be a hit.
