Unveiling the Gothic Magic of the Eau De Vie Bar
Key Highlights :

Nestled in a 150-year-old vaulted room of gold leaf, velvet, and carvings, the Gothic Bar is a unique and seductive bar specialising in eau de vie. Open until late, and even “a little later”, this bar is a place of midwinter magic and alluring drinks that leave you feeling enlivened and ready for a nightcap.
Eau de vie, the star of the show, is a clear, colourless fruit brandy that is made from fermented fruit juice. At the Gothic Bar, this drink is used both seriously and with a gleeful sense of silliness, as evidenced by the Bloomsbury Club, a cocktail that combines eau de vie with gin and raspberry syrup, topped with coconut and white chocolate foam.
The drinks menu is full of potent and propelling martinis, lethal concoctions such as the Omens Warning (scotch, Campari, amaro montenegro, and a touch of banana) and Diablo’s Descent (tequila, yellow tomato, sage leaf, chipotle wine, agave syrup, soda, and spritz of olive distillate), and the Thirsty Gargoyle (apricot brandy, sloe gin, lime, and hint of cinnamon). For a unique twist, there is a riff on a bloody pickleback - a Bloody Mary with pickle juice.
The bar is run by the talented Jack Porter, with the help of the impeccable service of General Manager Emma Underwood. The atmosphere of the bar is one of moody surrounds and candlelight, but there is also a lightness and fun that makes the Gothic Bar a truly unique and enjoyable experience.
So if you’re looking for a place to enjoy a nightcap and get enlivened, the Gothic Bar is the place to be. With its seductive atmosphere and potent drinks, you’ll be sure to have an unforgettable night.
