# You Can Tell How Big a Man's Penis Is By Looking at His Hands... But Not How You Think

Key Highlights :

1. A man's index finger could reveal more about what he is hiding under his trousers than you might expect.
2. The smaller the index finger, the lower the 2D:4D ratio.
3. According to the NHS, testosterone doesn't just control future penis length but also future finger length.

We've all heard the old adage that men with big feet have big shoes, but according to NHS surgeon Dr Karan Rajan, the size of a man's penis could be determined by a different body part - his hands. In a TikTok video that has been viewed by over 915,000 people, Dr Rajan explains how the length of a man's index finger can be used to predict the size of his penis.

The theory is based on the second to fourth digit ratio (2D:4D), which is calculated by dividing the length of the index finger by the length of the ring finger. According to Dr Rajan, the lower the ratio, the higher the exposure to testosterone in the uterus, and the bigger the penis.

A 2011 study by Korean researchers compared the difference in finger length of 144 men and measured it against the length of their penises when it was flaccid and stretched. They found that the 2D:4D ratio could predict adult penile size. The study only measured fingers on the right hand because researchers claim 'there are numerous reports that differences between the sexes in digit ratio are greater on the right hand than on the left'.

However, Dr Rajan cautions that this is not a 'hard and fast rule'. He explains that this is just an interesting study, and that by no means should it be used as a rule book.

In support of the 'big nose, big hose' theory, a scientific study found men with larger noses have longer penises. Japanese researchers last month found men with the biggest noses had a 'stretched penile length' of 13.4cm, or well over five inches, on average. Those with smaller noses had penises that measured 10.4cm, or four inches.

It's important to note that nothing will make a man's penis any larger or smaller, according to the NHS. So while looking at a man's hands may give you a clue as to what he is hiding under his trousers, it's not a definitive answer.

If you want to measure your 2D:4D ratio, you can do so by straightening your finger and looking at the palm of your hand. At the base of your index and ring fingers there are likely to be creases. Your index finger is likely to have one crease, the ring finger is a band of creases. Select the crease closest to the palm and choose a point on the crease midway across the base of the finger. Mark it with a pen. Measure it from the mark to the tip of the finger.

So while Dr Rajan's advice may be an interesting study, it's not a fool-proof way to determine the size of a man's penis. The only way to know for sure is to be brave and ask him directly.
