Enjoy Whitby Folk Week 2023 with Concerts, Workshops, Talks and More

Whitby Folk Week is back once again, and it promises to be a week full of musical activity and fun. From Saturday August 19 to Friday August 25, events ranging from concerts and dance displays to workshops and talks will be taking place both indoors and outdoors at various locations around town.
On Saturday, the festivities kick off with Goathland Plough Stots performing at the Captain Cook statue on the West Cliff, while a Folk Week parade and dance display will be held at Crescent Gardens on the Bandstand from 4.30pm.
Throughout the week, there will be plenty of special events to look forward to. On Sunday, the Wilsons’ Sibling Rivalry CD launch will be held at Whitby Rifle Club, while Keith Donnelly will be hosting his Silly Shanties Show and CD launch at The Coliseum. On Tuesday, the Cliff Bairstow jig competition will take place at the Whitby Pavilion foyer at 4.30pm.
On Wednesday, The Coliseum will host Songs from the Shows; the Golden Age of Broadway, while the Pavilion will be the venue for the Sarah Morgan tribute concert on Thursday at 3pm. There will also be a themed Ceilidh, Space … Beyond the Stars, at the Pavilion on Thursday. Songs of Protest will be held at the Coliseum on Friday.
Most of the workshops are open to all ages and abilities, although some are intended for people at different levels of expertise.
