Explore How Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE) is Saving Time for Users
Key Highlights :
Google has recently introduced a new feature called Search Generative Experience (SGE) while browsing, which is designed to help users engage with long-form content from publishers and creators more deeply and quickly find what they are looking for. The feature uses generative AI to provide users with a list of key points from articles they are reading, helping them save time.
The SGE while browsing feature is automatically available to users who have opted into the SGE via the search labs. For those who haven't yet opted for SGE, they can use the feature as a standalone experiment via the Google app on Android and iOS, and later via Chrome on desktop.
The feature will be especially useful for tasks like learning something new or complex, finding a recipe or researching a big purchase. It will also be helpful for those who want to save time while reading articles on the web. With SGE while browsing, users will be able to access an AI-generated list of the key points an article covers, with links that will take them directly to what they are looking for on the page. Additionally, users can also use the “Explore on page" feature to see questions the article answers and jump to the relevant section to learn more.
However, the SGE while browsing feature will only work on articles that are freely available on the internet and cannot be used to provide key pointers for articles that are marked as paywalled.
Google's SGE while browsing feature is a great addition to the search experience and will help users save time and get to the core of what they are looking for even faster. It is yet another example of how generative AI can be used to improve the user experience.
