Ignoring Imran Khan's Contributions to Pakistan Cricket: #ShameOnPCB
Key Highlights :
Pakistan cricket is a sport that has been graced by many legendary players, one of the greatest being Imran Khan. Back in 1992, he led the Pakistani team to victory in the World Cup, a feat that has been remembered and celebrated ever since. Recently, however, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) posted a video on social media which paid tribute to some of its legendary players, but completely ignored Imran Khan. Fans were understandably disappointed and took to Twitter to voice their displeasure. Former PCB chairman Khalid Mahmood even asked for the video to be withdrawn and released again with proper mention of Imran's contribution to Pakistan cricket.
The omission of Imran Khan from the video is particularly shocking given the fact that he is one of the greatest cricketers of all time. He finished with 3,807 and 3,709 Test and ODI runs, respectively, and 544 international wickets. He also went on to become Pakistan's Prime Minister from August 2018 to April 2022.
The failure to recognize Imran Khan's contribution to Pakistan cricket is a huge disservice to the legendary cricketer and his countless fans. It is a reminder of the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the work of our heroes, both in and out of the field. The PCB must take responsibility for their mistake and work to rectify it by ensuring that Imran Khan is appropriately recognized for his contributions to Pakistan cricket. #ShameOnPCB
