As the anticipated return of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif approaches, senior PML-N leadership is set to meet in London in a week or so to finalise the modalities regarding his homecoming, according to party sources. The PML-N leaders who have been asked to reach London include former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif, Mian Javed Latif, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Saiful Malook Khokar.

Khawaja Asif, a senior PML-N leader, while talking to a private news channel the other day said that Nawaz Sharif will not return until the legal and constitutional risks attached to his return are zero. He added that until the legal and constitutional risk for Nawaz Sharif is zero, they will not think of his return to the country. In response to a question, he said that Nawaz Sharif will definitely return to his homeland and “we do not want anyone to settle scores against him or the judiciary to give any such decision regarding him. So, by zeroing out all the risks against him, he will be brought back home”.

It is expected that Nawaz Sharif intends to come back to the country in the third week of September. According to a private TV channel, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif is set to return to Pakistan by mid-September. A Sharif family source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that Nawaz will leave for Pakistan from London “after a month”. This would mean that the former prime minister will return to Pakistan in the middle of September.

The PML-N leaders are expected to brief Nawaz Sharif about the legal and political implications of his return to the country. Khawaja Asif was asked about the Supreme Court decision on the Review of Judgment Act, to which he said that this judgement would not have any negative impact on the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif. He maintained that Nawaz Sharif's disqualification has ended after five years.

The meeting of the PML-N leadership in London is expected to be a crucial one as they will be deciding the modalities of Nawaz Sharif's return. The PML-N leaders will be discussing the legal and constitutional risks attached to his return and ways to ensure that he is able to come back to the country without any hindrance. It is expected that the party will also be discussing the plans for Nawaz Sharif's reception upon his return.

With the PML-N leadership meeting in London to decide the modalities of Nawaz Sharif's homecoming, the anticipation for the former prime minister's return to the country is growing. It remains to be seen whether Nawaz Sharif will be able to make a triumphant return to the country or not.
