Punjab Food Authority Launches Calorie Labelling Project to Promote Healthy Eating Habits
Key Highlights :
The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has launched the project of calorie labelling on restaurant menus in order to make people aware of healthy, nutritious food choices before ordering a meal. The project was inaugurated from Gulberg here on Saturday by Additional Director General (Operations) Sardar Asif Dogar. He stated that all available resources would be utilized for public awareness and to make the project successful.
The aim of the project is to make it easier for consumers to make healthier food choices in order to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Dogar said that it was important for all of us to know how much nutrition is in what we are eating. He further added that listing calories on restaurant menus would improve the eating habits of people.
The calorie labelling project will be spread across Punjab, and the provincial food regulatory body will take strict legal action against Food Business Operators (FBOs) in case of failure in the calorie labelling on restaurant menus. This initiative is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for a healthy Pakistan, where people are fully informed about choosing the right and healthy food. Making safe and nutritious food choices can help prevent illnesses and keep us safe from diseases.
The PFA is taking necessary steps to ensure that the calorie labelling project is successful. This includes providing training to FBOs and conducting regular inspections. They are also working on creating awareness among the public about healthy eating and the importance of calorie labelling.
It is hoped that the calorie labelling project will help people to make better food choices and lead a healthier lifestyle. This initiative will also help to reduce the risk of obesity and other health-related issues.
