Root Shoot Whiskey: A Grain-to-Glass Craft Beverage from Colorado's Front Range
Key Highlights :
Since 2016, Root Shoot Malting has been supplying grains to breweries and distilleries in Colorado’s Front Range, allowing them to turn locally-grown and malted barley into craft beers and spirits. Today, the company is proud to announce the launch of its first original spirit: Root Shoot Whiskey. This American single-malt whiskey is made from 100% malted barley, and features three varieties of barley grown, malted, and distilled on the Front Range.
Root Shoot Whiskey is the brainchild of founder Todd Olander, whose family has been farming the land where the Loveland malting facility sits since 1926. Olander wanted to create a product that would connect people to the land and show them where their product is coming from. The whiskey itself has a smooth taste, with notes of vanilla on the nose and a slight cinnamon-like kick in the taste. Despite being 50% alcohol content, it offers a touch of sweetness to balance the spicy character.
Root Shoot Whiskey is now available in Colorado liquor stores, and the company is celebrating the launch with a party tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at Improper City in Denver (3201 Walnut St.). At the event, attendees can enjoy a boilermaker featuring a shot of the new spirit plus a station 26 Brewing Co. Juicy Banger IPA for just $14.
Root Shoot Malting is proud to offer a grain-to-glass craft beverage that showcases the best of Colorado’s Front Range. With more than 100 barrels of Root Shoot Whiskey to be released over the next five years, this is just the beginning of a unique and exciting spirit.
