Telegram Rolls Out Stories Feature for All Users to Mark 10th Anniversary
Key Highlights :
Telegram, the encrypted messaging app with more than 800 million active users, is rolling out its biggest update yet to mark its 10th anniversary. The update includes a new Stories feature, which is similar to rival Meta-owned WhatsApp's feature and is now available for all users.
The Telegram Stories feature boasts a dual camera mode, granular privacy settings, and flexible duration options. The dual camera mode allows users to capture moments from both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
Pavel Durov, CEO and Founder of Telegram, wrote on his blog, "In just a decade, Telegram gained over 800 million active users purely thanks to word of mouth. Through numerous updates and improvements over the years, Telegram has redefined what a modern messaging experience should be like. The next step for Telegram is to go beyond messaging and spearhead innovation in social media in general. We should use our popularity to change the lives of billions for better, to inspire and uplift people on our planet. Today’s gradual roll-out of stories for all users marks the beginning of this new stage in the history of Telegram. While this past decade was exciting, the next 10 years will be the time when Telegram reaches its true potential."
The Stories feature was previously only available to premium subscribers on the platform, but now all users can access it. Telegram has spent several months innovating and refining the format to provide users with the best experience.
Honor is also making a comeback under Madhav Sheth's leadership, with plans to launch smartphones in India soon. Apple is also starting to assemble AirPods in India at Foxconn's Hyderabad plant, following the success of their iPhone models.
These updates from Telegram and other companies show the potential of modern messaging and social media to change the lives of billions of people for the better. Telegram's roll-out of Stories for all users marks the beginning of a new era in the history of the app.
