X Social Media Platform to Pay Legal Bills and Sue on Behalf of Unfairly Treated Employees
Key Highlights :
Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur behind the new social media platform X, has promised to pay the legal bills and sue on behalf of people who have been treated unfairly by employers due to posting or liking something on the site formerly known as Twitter.
In a post on X late on Saturday, Musk said that there will be no limits to funding the bills and that the platform will not just sue, but make it "extremely loud" and go after the boards of directors of the companies involved. He also shared a graph that showed the latest count of monthly users as over 540 million, indicating a strong traction in usage.
The move comes as X is going through organizational changes and is looking to boost falling advertising revenue. Late last month, Musk said that the cash flow of X remains negative because of a nearly 50 per cent drop in advertising revenue and a heavy debt load. An upturn in advertising revenue that had been expected in June failed to materialize.
The new X platform, which was rebranded from Twitter in July, is an “everything app” that focuses on broadcasting ideas to the world. Since then, the iconic blue bird logo has been replaced by a new logo and Musk has been vocal about the platform’s success.
For those who have been unfairly treated by their employers due to posting or liking something on X, the promise of legal aid is a welcome one. With Musk’s commitment to fund legal bills and sue on behalf of employees, the platform is taking a stand against any kind of injustice and discrimination. This move is likely to encourage more people to use the platform and help it gain even more traction.
