Bruce Springsteen Postpones Tour Until 2024 After Illness
Key Highlights :
The legendary Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced that they are postponing the remainder of their 2023 tour until next year due to Bruce's recent diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease. Springsteen, 74, thanked fans for the “good wishes, encouragement and support” and said that the doctors have advised him to continue treatment for the remainder of the year.
The band announced the news on social media, saying that rescheduled dates for the postponed 2023 shows will be announced next week. The performances will take place at their originally scheduled venues. This announcement comes after Springsteen postponed eight shows across seven cities—Albany, Pittsburg, Syracuse, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Columbus and Uncasville—earlier this month due to his health issues.
Peptic ulcer disease occurs when a sore develops on the lining of a person’s stomach, according to the National Institute of Health, and affects between 1% and 6% of people in the U.S. It is more common in older adults. Symptoms of peptic ulcer disease can include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Treatment for peptic ulcer disease often includes medications to reduce the amount of acid in the stomach, antibiotics to kill bacteria, and lifestyle changes such as avoiding certain foods and drinks.
The tour, which began in February of this year, was disrupted by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Fans of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will have to wait until the new year to see the band perform again. In the meantime, Springsteen has encouraged fans to stay safe and follow the guidelines of their local governments. He also thanked them for their patience and understanding.
