Enjoy Free Minutes and Merchandise at Beryl's Special Event in Brighton
Key Highlights :
This weekend is the perfect time to get your hands on some free minutes and merchandise from bike hire company Beryl. On Saturday, St Peter’s Square in Brighton will be the scene of a special event organised by Beryl, where visitors can win merchandise and free minutes to use on Beryl BTN Bikes.
The event will run from 10am to 3pm and will give visitors the chance to speak to Beryl staff, ask questions and try out the vehicles. Beryl launched their initial phase one of the scheme back on March 31 and since then it has generated over 70,000 journeys across more than a quarter of a million kilometres.
The direct feedback from riders shows that Beryl has replaced nearly ten thousand private vehicle journeys, saving nearly six tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, which is the equivalent of nearly 35 flights between London and Edinburgh.
Beryl CEO and co-founder Phil Ellis commented: “It would be great to see people come down and show their support and enthusiasm for what we are trying to achieve here; which is to break down the barriers to active travel, improve public health and decarbonise transport by reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions."
There has been criticism over the pricing of the scheme, but Ellis added: “Our Beryl BTN Bikes are not only convenient, simple to use and fun, they can also save you a lot of money compared to private vehicle use, removing the costs associated with fuel, parking, tax, maintenance, storage, parking, MOT and insurance.”
When the scheme is fully delivered this autumn, it will have a total of 780 bikes, including 468 e-bikes and 312 pedal bikes. This will enable users to ride and park the bikes in more parts of the city.
Beryl is recognised for meeting "exceptional standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency". To hire a Beryl e-bike, you can download the Beryl app for free from the App Store for iOS, or the Google Play Store for Android users.
Once registered, you can use the app to find the nearest bike. When you’re finished with your journey, you must park the bike in one of the designated Beryl bays. However, if you leave the bike at a bay which is currently not in use, you may incur a charge.
So don’t miss out on your chance to get some free minutes and merchandise from Beryl this Saturday. Head down to St Peter’s Square in Brighton between 10am and 3pm for your chance to win.
