Key Highlights :

1. Beach Burrito Company (formerly 4 Eyes Pty Ltd) is closing three of its stores in New South Wales and ACT after going into liquidation.

3. The key factors in the decision to close the stores are Covid, higher interest rates, and poor weather conditions.
4. Each of the venues is unique and is "designed and fit out different to the last, giving each space a unique personality, influenced heavily by its local environment."

The Mexican food chain Beach Burrito Company, formerly known as 4 Eyes Pty Ltd, has recently been placed into liquidation and as a result, has had to close three of its stores in Newtown, Bondi and Canberra. This news comes as a shock to many, as Beach Burrito Co has been a staple of the Australian food scene since its first store opened in Bondi in 2007.

The closure of these three stores has been attributed to a combination of the Covid-19 pandemic, higher interest rates and poor weather conditions. The Newcastle store was sold to another company, but there is no word yet on the fate of the remaining stores in Cronulla, Coogee, Dee Why, and Jindabyne in NSW; Glenelg, SA; and Coolangatta, QLD.

The unique design and fit-out of each store is heavily influenced by its local environment, according to the Beach Burrito Co website. The Fitzroy store in Melbourne, which opened in 2015, closed its doors two years later. The Glenelg store made headlines in April 2021 after a mouse was spotted scurrying around the premises.

The liquidators appointed to handle the closure of the three stores are David Stimpson and Hugh Armenis of S V Partners. It is not yet known what will happen to the staff who worked in the closed stores.

The closure of these stores is a reminder of the struggles that businesses have faced during the pandemic. Beach Burrito Co is just one of many businesses that have had to make difficult decisions in order to survive. It is a sad day for those who have enjoyed the delicious Mexican food that Beach Burrito Co has provided over the years and for those who have been employed by the company. We hope that the remaining stores can remain open and that Beach Burrito Co can continue to serve its customers for many years to come.
