Yellow Weather Warning Issued for Cambridgeshire
Key Highlights :
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across much of the southeast, including parts of Cambridgeshire. The warning covers Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon, and Peterborough, as well as much of the southeast. The warning is in place from 1pm on Sunday (September 17) to 6am on Monday (September 18).
Heavy rain is forecast across Cambridgeshire on Sunday afternoon, with the Met Office warning of potential disruption from severe thunderstorms. The warning states that there is a “small chance of disruption from severe thunderstorms later on Sunday”. This could include flooding of homes and businesses, damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
The Met Office also warned that there is a “slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost”. Additionally, spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, with a “small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life”.
The Met Office has urged those in the affected areas to be aware of the potential risks and take precautions where necessary. This includes being prepared for possible travel disruption and ensuring that any outdoor activities are planned around the weather.
