Ajay Devgn Extends Best Wishes to the Team of Bengali Super Cop Film 'Dawshom Awbotaar' on Shubho Mahalaya

On the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn took to social media to extend his heartfelt wishes to the team of Jio Studios’ and SVF Entertainment’s upcoming Bengali cop drama 'Dawshom Awbotaar'. The film stars the evergreen and versatile Bengali legend Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead role as Probir, the iconic cop in 'Dawshom Awbotaar', and the stellar cast also includes Anirban Bhattacharya, Jisshu U Sengupta and Jaya Ahsan.
Devgn’s special shout-out to the team of 'Dawshom Awbotaar' is a heartwarming gesture of collaboration and support in the Indian film industry, especially in light of his own iconic portrayal of Singham in the Rohit Shetty cop universe. The Singham franchise began in 2011 and saw Devgn play the titular cop with Kajal Aggarwal and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. The second film was released in 2014 and both were massive hits at the box office. In the following years, Shetty introduced Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi in his cop universe. In 2021, the three supercops came together in Sooryavanshi to save the day and the team is currently filming Singham Again with Deepika Padukone joining the cop universe as a cop and Kareena Kapoor Khan returning to the franchise.
Meanwhile, 'Dawshom Awbotaar' is set to redefine the cop genre in Bengali cinema and stands as more than just another cinematic offering. The film is a double prequel, intricately weaving the narratives of popular cop dramas - Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da. Produced by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment and directed by Srijit Mukherji, Dawshom Awbotaar is set to hit cinemas on 19th October in West Bengal and fans across India can look forward to a nationwide release on 20th October.
