The GPH Builders Merchants Highland League Cup semi-final is set to be an exciting affair as the Cattachs and Maroons clash following two postponements. Ally MacDonald and Craig Ewen are determined to lead their respective sides, Brora Rangers and Keith, to glory in the competition. Both teams are looking to end a trophy drought, with the Cattachs last winning the Highland League Cup in 2016 and the Maroons in 2013.

The semi-final will take place at Dudgeon Park in Inverurie, with the winner moving one step closer to a cup final. MacDonald, who took up the role of player-manager in February, is well aware of the pressure to win silverware at Brora and is determined to deliver. He said: “I’d say it is the biggest game of my time as manager. A manager at Brora is judged on winning things and I don’t hide from that. We’ve got a chance to get to a cup final to try to win something.”

Ewen is also keen to bring success back to Keith and is confident that his team can compete with the best on their day. He said: “We’re well aware of the history and hopefully the boys can produce their best to try to get us through. We’ll need to defend really well, the boys will need to stick together and we’ll need to ride our luck at times. There’s belief within the group that on our day we can compete with the better teams.”

The Cattachs and Maroons will be looking to produce a top performance to make it to the final and bring the trophy back to their respective clubs. Both teams will be hoping to ride their luck and come out on top in this highly anticipated semi-final.
