Last weekend, Powys teenager Ben Higgins had a remarkable outing at the Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk. He raced to his maiden Legends Cars Championship with allgrowth Ltd and then added a second win in quick order. This impressive feat marked a major milestone in the young driver's career and was a joyous occasion for the Abermule native.

The first race of the event saw Higgins charge from seventh place on the grid to a hard-fought victory. He was initially behind Daniel Pooley and Jack Parker, but managed to pass both of them on lap two and three respectively. By the fifth lap, Parker had opened up a 0.9 second lead, but Higgins had other ideas and set-up a grandstand lap six finish after taking the lead into the first corner, Riches. After a close battle, Higgins clinched the win by 0.1 seconds from Chris Needham.

Unfortunately, the second race of the event ended in disappointment for Higgins as he was forced to retire mere yards from the grid due to a tangle in the mid-pack. This led to a red flag stoppage and a rescheduling of the round five final, which took place on Sunday morning.

Higgins was determined to make up for the previous day's disappointment and he did just that. He worked his way through the order and into contention just after mid-distance and then grabbed the lead before going on to win on lap eight by 0.8 seconds. The teenager was elated with his success and said, “It feels really, really good to be honest. It’s been long coming, last year it was looking like we might get a win a few times but it didn’t happen. This year we’ve managed to be on the podium quite a lot, so it’s nice to finally get the win. The competition has just gone up and up, even compared to last year. It’s been a very good weekend, two first places is great for us – Legends are so great.”

Higgins ended the event fourth in the championship standings with one race meeting still to go this season. The decisive final two rounds of the Legends Cars Championship with allgrowth Ltd will take place over the weekend of November 4/5th at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent, running as part of the annual British Truck Racing Championship ‘Fireworks Finale’ event. The Legends Cars Championship is supported by allgrowth Ltd, JLM Lubricants, Carless, Vital Equipment and MRF Tyres.

For Ben Higgins, the weekend was a resounding success and a great confidence booster. He will be looking to carry this momentum into the final rounds of the championship and give himself the best chance of a podium finish.
