The East Bay Times Letters to the Editor for Oct. 15, 2023, were filled with concerns about a wide range of issues. From the plight of animals on Highway 4, to the evil of Hamas, to the possibility of a Netanyahu/Saudi deal, and the hysteria that Netanyahu and his supporters are promoting in the United States, readers had a lot to say.

The first letter was about the dead animals on both sides of Highway 4. The reader was appalled that no one was picking them up, some having been there for months. They asked what happened to the people who used to pick up dead animals.

The second letter was about the plight of the Palestinians and the evil of Hamas. The reader asked what happened to the option of peace, which every Palestinian leader has rejected repeatedly. They also pointed out that the Hamas charter calls for the destruction of Israel, and the Palestinian Authority has also rejected offers of peace repeatedly.

The third letter was about the conflict in Ukraine. The reader pointed out that Russia's strategy to win the war in Ukraine is to outlast the West. They suggested that the West should back off from attempts to "win" the war, send only enough munitions to continue the stalemate, and carry out high-yield operations, such as pounding Russia's Black Sea fleet. The reader also suggested that the West should double down to weaken Russia internally, through increasingly severe sanctions and perhaps banning Russian athletes from international competition.

The fourth letter was about the treason charge against an American president. The reader pointed out that the source of the treason charge is the sharing of nuclear secrets, something a foreign power would love to have. They argued that it undermines American security, and yet the president still has supporters.

It's clear from these letters that readers of the East Bay Times have strong opinions on a wide range of issues. From the plight of animals to the conflict in Ukraine, readers have a lot to say. It's important to remember that we must all be informed and engaged citizens in order to make sure that our voices are heard.
