Traffic Department Suggests Parking Space for Vehicles to Make Navratri Celebrations More Organised
Key Highlights :
As the Navratri celebrations get underway in Mumbai, officials from the traffic department have suggested that parking space for vehicles be provided within the event venues to make the celebrations more organised. This suggestion was made at the BMC's Navratri coordination meeting held at the civic headquarters mid-week, along with event organisers.
According to reports, more than 1,200 Navratri mandals and 82 Chhat Puja locations have been given official permission this year. Parking has become a hot-button issue, especially during the festive season, and organisers, especially those holding events in mammoth places, have been asked to provide parking facilities. Clubs across the city also hold dandiyas and in some clubs, the guest parking can be used for revellers to park their cars.
Carpooling to events or taking public transport is a great way to ease the burden on our roads. Cabs are usually available and other transport may be running even after the celebrations end. This may not be as comfortable as your car, but it helps free up space and also prevents the hassle of trying to find parking.
Apart from providing parking space, it is important to observe road discipline and dial back the rage. An orderly celebration is not just about good conduct within the venue, but also about smooth traffic and ease of navigating our roads. Organisers and police have their task cut out for them, and citizens should also try to do their part by following traffic rules and regulations.
