XDefiant: Ubisoft's Latest Free-to-Play Shooter Delayed Indefinitely
Key Highlights :

Ubisoft's latest free-to-play shooter, XDefiant, has been hit with another delay. After initially pushing back the game's release in the summer, and then again in September, the developer has now indefinitely delayed the game in order to address a number of inconsistencies revealed during a public test session (PTS). This delay continues a rocky year for Ubisoft, which has seen some of its 2023 titles delayed to 2024, and leaves just two big releases for the year: and December's .
The developer had been hoping to get the free-to-play shooter out before the end of 2023, and had planned to use a Day One patch to address any lingering issues Sony or Microsoft had. However, this new delay means that XDefiant will not be available until the issues are addressed.
In a statement, executive producer called the delay a blessing, saying that the team wants to build the game with the community in mind, and that they'd "rather ship a game that is better for everyone." He went on to say that the team is committed to making sure XDefiant is a game that players can return to for many years.
It remains to be seen when XDefiant will eventually be released, but Ubisoft is committed to making sure the game is up to the standard they want before it is available to the public. Until then, fans of the franchise will have to wait for the game to be ready for launch.
