How Strictly Come Dancing Star Karen Hauer's BBC Show Commitments Contributed to the Breakdown of Her Marriage

Karen Hauer, one of the professional dancers on the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, recently announced her split from her husband of 16 months, Jordan Wys-Jones. While Karen has yet to address the split, Jordan has spoken out, claiming that her commitments to the show contributed to the breakdown of their marriage.
Jordan opened up about his struggles with Karen's commitments to Strictly, which often left him alone at home. "It’s a bit of a love story, a sad story," he told The Sun. "I’m incredibly sad not to be in Karen’s life, and not on this journey with her but we’re not right for each other in terms of her career."
Karen is currently the longest serving professional dancer on Strictly, having been a part of the show since 2012. Jordan admitted that while he admired Karen's dedication to her career, their views on having children differed, and he still had his heart set on becoming a father. "Karen's dedicated to her career, which she has worked really hard for," he said. "She's amazing and I admire her for it. That's one of the reasons I wanted to marry her – because of how powerful she is. But we wanted different things. There was a plan about having children but then there wasn't a plan."
The former couple had discussed having children when they first met, however, Jordan realised Karen's feelings had changed when he was alerted to a magazine article. In the interview with Hello! magazine, the Venezuelan-American dancer revealed she was unsure about having kids. "When we first met, we discussed it. You do say things like, 'I want to have kids'," Jordan explained. "And she'd mentioned to me that she wanted to have kids with me. But in the interview, Karen said 'kids aren't the future' – which did make me sad. I've always wanted to be a father."
Jordan admitted he became "vacant" in their relationship and they eventually realised they weren't right for each other. Recalling the moment they decided to go separate ways, Jordan explained: "There were tears on both sides. A lot of tears and sadness. We didn’t want to let go of each other but we’re also not right for each other. If we’d stayed together and we didn’t have a family, I felt I would have ended up resenting her. This is the perfect moment for us to love each other and leave each other.”
Karen's professional career on Strictly may have been a contributing factor to the breakdown of her marriage. While Jordan admires Karen's dedication to her career, it was clear that the couple wanted different things and ultimately, it was not enough to keep them together.
