Kevin Sinfield's Incredible Challenge to Raise Money for Motor Neurone Disease Charities
Key Highlights :
Former Leeds Rhino player Kevin Sinfield has already undertaken several physical challenges and raised £13million for charity over the past few years. Now, he is taking on an even greater challenge to raise money for motor neurone disease charities: running seven ultra-marathons in seven different cities across seven successive days.
The challenge was inspired by Sinfield’s great friend, Rob Burrow, who has been affected by the illness. Sinfield will start in his home city of Leeds on December 1, before heading to Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin and Brighton before finishing in London.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Sinfield said: “We go again, we start three weeks on Friday, running has been a great vehicle for us. It has been a great way of celebrating the MND community and celebrating Rob and showing people we care. The support we have had has been amazing. The plan is to run seven marathons, plus an extra mile each day, in seven different cities in the UK and Ireland across seven days.”
Sinfield is hoping to raise awareness and funds for motor neurone disease charities and to make a difference for those affected by the illness. He is also hoping to be joined by Burrow at the start and finish of the challenge. Burrow, who is able to speak using special equipment, said of Sinfield’s challenge: “Another crazy challenge, we thought you would stop after the last one, but here you go again. I would do the same for you. I hope to see you off at the start and be there at the finish, you never stop banging the drum for the MND community, remember Kev you aren’t getting any younger!”
Kevin Sinfield’s incredible challenge is sure to be an inspiring feat and a remarkable way to raise money and awareness for motor neurone disease charities. His dedication to helping those affected by the illness is truly admirable and will hopefully help to make a difference for those in need.
