Mayor Eric Adams Confirms FBI Seized His Electronic Devices During Raid of Chief Fundraiser
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has confirmed that FBI agents seized his iPhones and iPad during a raid of his chief campaign fundraiser's home. At a press conference on Wednesday, Adams faced questions mostly about the FBI raid on the home of his chief campaign fundraiser Briana Suggs. He did not mention that FBI agents had approached him two days earlier and confiscated his electronic devices. In a statement issued on Friday, Adams said, “As a former member of law enforcement, I expect all members of my staff to follow the law and fully cooperate with any sort of investigation-and I will continue to do exactly that. I have nothing to hide.”
Sources told CBS New York political reporter Marcia Kramer that the information Adams' lawyers turned over to investigators did not involve Suggs, but someone else in the mayor's circle. It is believed that information about this person was on one of the mayor's devices, which were reportedly returned to him after a few days.
Adams' statement and the FBI raid have raised questions about the mayor's involvement in possible corruption. However, no accusations of wrongdoing have been made against Adams and he has stated that he is committed to cooperating with the investigation.
