It's been less than a day since Yahtzee Croshaw and former Escapist editor-in-chief Nick Calandra left The Escapist, and already they have announced their next venture: Second Wind. On Monday, November 6, Calandra revealed that he and other staff members had been fired from The Escapist by parent company GAMURS, citing goals that were not properly explained. "I have declined my severance pay and will not be signing an NDA," said Calandra on X (formerly Twitter). "I'm incredibly proud of everything my team and I achieved over the last four years, and the community that we built together."

Croshaw, known by his handle 'Yahtzee' and creator of the site's Zero Punctuation review series, soon followed suit and announced his leave from The Escapist, alongside several other staff members. "I don't have the rights to Zero Punctuation," he wrote, "but whatever happens you'll be hearing my voice again soon, in a new place."

That place is Second Wind, a new venture started by Croshaw and Calandra with the help of other ex-Escapist employees. At present, Second Wind only has social media channels for X and YouTube alongside a website. The company's description simply describes it as "focused on creating content that's informative, interesting and fun, and everything that you came to expect from the team behind The Escapist."

Second Wind will begin to release videos starting Wednesday, November 15. Croshaw and Calandra will be going live tomorrow at 11 AM CT to discuss their plans, where to support them, and when the first videos will drop.

It's clear that Croshaw and Calandra are determined to continue their work together, and Second Wind is sure to be a great success. With the support of their fans and the promise of more entertaining and informative content, Second Wind is sure to be a hit.
